This year's topic

This year, we have decided to run the conference around thetheme of Identities. Moreover, we believe that this theme is particularly popular nowadays whereas the notions of national, cultural, religious, sexual and communal identities are popular amongst everyday discussions. For instance, facing the migration crisis, a large number of dissidents from Northern counties are against the welcoming of migrants because they considerate the up coming of these populations as a synonym to the loss of their cultural identity. At the same time, in certain Southern countries, particularly in the Middle East, religion pushes some people to rethink the uniformisation of lifestyles and reject a globalized culture considered as occidental. What can we also say about this new world where people question and override the notion of gender, and by these means redefine sexuality? What about the various independent tendencies that our world knows as national and cultural identities that are forcing communities to demand independence, taking the Kurds as an example? All these accounts will be discussed in our different committees ( the Security council, the Ethnic Committee, the Economical and Social Committee, the Human Rights Committee, the World Health Organization, the UNESCO, the Arab League and last but not least Commission on the Status of Women) during our conference to attempt a trial in finding viables, durables solutions that satisfy the majority to new issues revolving around identity.
