Problematic: Should everyone, regardless of identity, be elligibile for adoption ?

In the context of International institutions and numerous treaties, Member States agreed on the implementation of new adoption policies. Keeping in mind the evolution of mentalities, habits and some countries’ laws, adoption has drastically changed to become an actual right. However, single people, the LGBTQ+ community, and simply even people wanting a child from a different background, are often facing discrimination. We can therefore ask ourselves if adoption should be a universal right, and if it should take into account the identities of the adoptant and the adoptee. Should LGBTQ+ and single adoptants be supported by the UN in their battle for adoption right? It’s this type of questions that will be debated in the Ethics Committee of AddiMUN 2019.

Any Ethics Office or the Chairperson of the Ethics Panel can bring items to the attention of the Ethics Panel.
The Ethics Panel’s main priorities are to harmonize policies and practices among member organizations in the areas of financial disclosure, protection against retaliation, ethics training, ethics annual reporting, standard setting, benchmarking and peer support.
