Council
The Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security. It has 15 Members, and each Member has one vote. Under the Charter of the United Nations, all Member States are obligated to comply with Council decisions.
The Security Council takes the lead in determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression. It calls upon the parties to a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and recommends methods of adjustment or terms of settlement. In some cases, the Security Council can resort to imposing sanctions or even authorize the use of force to maintain or restore international peace and security.

Problematic: How to build a new Syrian state in order to reunite all identities of the Syrian people ?

Arabico-Kurdi Forces, helped by the United States, proclaimed in Syria the end of the Islamic State caliphate. This victory was saluted as a crucial step that yet doesn’t mark the end of the fight against the principal djihadist organisation in the World. But this fight against terrorism has faded the major problematic that triggered the Syrian Civil War : how to build a democratic and unified Syrian state, taking in count its various cultural and political ideologies ? How to conciliate free, democratic powers with the Bachar El Asad defenders ? How to make Chiite and Sunnites get along ? How to assure the perpetuity of the Christian community still present in Syria ? What will happen to the Syrian Kurdes and their projects for Kurdistan ? As the Syrian civil war becomes more and more of an international conflict, these questions will be discussed in the AddiMUN 2019 Security Council.
